On Sunday October 14, 20102 Paper Kite Children’s Foundation partnered up with Kama Restaurant in Toronto to host a dinner buffet and cake auction event.  The evening started off at 6:30 pm with our volunteers warmly greeting the guests as they arrived at the location.  Guests chose their seating and lined up at the buffet to sample the delicious food prepared by the wonderful staff at Kama.  A bit after 7pm our guest performers from Prima Dance School gave our guests a treat by performing two Indian dances.  It was a pleasure to watch the two young dancers as they gave a vibrant performance.  Paper Kite president, Tarik Kadri, and executive director, Rosy Rumpal, addressed our guests and thanked them for their support, as well as provided information on the work Paper Kite does for the orphaned children in Bihar before going on to the final part of the evening.  Our cake auction came last and was a fun and exciting end to an evening marked by good food, fun times and meeting new people who also wanted to do their part to make the world a better place for the orphans in Bihar.

Thank you to Kama Restaurant ( for hosting and the Prima Dance School ( for performing at our Toronto event!

On Sunday, Oct. 28th, 2012 the volunteer team in Ottawa hosted their first Paper Kite Fundraiser event. It was a dinner and silent auction event hosted at Mukut Restaurant, downtown on Rideau Street. Mukut is a family-friendly restaurant with a delicious menu of Indian cuisine and kindly offered to donate half of all dinner ticket sales to Paper Kite Children’s Foundation. The volunteer team got busy and produced posters, tickets, keenly advertised the event ‘from the get go’, and solicited for gift donations from local businesses in and around Ottawa for the silent auction part of the event. Guests arrived at 7pm, mingled over drinks and enjoyed a delicious buffet including; Beef Curry, Butter Chicken, Onion Bhaji, Lentils Tarka Dall, Mixed Vegetable Bhaji, Rice, Naan Bread. and Gulab Jamun for dessert. During the meal, diners’ names were drawn and various door prize winners were announced. There were six lucky winners! Some of these gifts included, a dancing ghost & pumpkin doll, 2 t-shirts, a yoga book pack, a CD, a Giant Tiger gift certificate, and a recipe book, all compliments of some of our generous sponsors. After dinner, diners mingled around the Silent Auction table and put in their bids. They all enjoyed the bidding process and guests took home some great deals by the end of the evening. All in all, a fun evening and a very successful one for Paper Kite Children’s Foundation as they raised a grand total of $995 from the event!  A great success for a great cause in support of orphaned children in Bihar, India. Way to go Paper Kite volunteers, and many thanks to Mukut Restaurant for the warm hospitality and generosity, and to all of our sponsors for their generous donations as well!
