Fundraiser in Vancouver a Resounding Success!

7 July 2013

On Thursday June 6th, 2013 Paper Kite Children’s Foundation partnered up with Haze Public House (1180 Howe Street) in Vancouver to host the event “Fundraising on a Good Note.” The evening started off at 6pm with our volunteers greeting the guests as they arrived. A warm, social atmosphere was accompanied by good food, good drinks, and the music of DJ Marc Fournier, known for his seductive world beats of a funky and electric variety (http://www.turnerentertainmentgroup.com/electropical.html). Shortly after 8pm Paper Kite board member, Dr. Sukhi Muker addressed our guests and thanked them for their support, as well as provided information on the work that Paper Kite does for orphans in Bihar. Before going on to the final part of the evening the brilliant Jillian Lebeck, a mainstay of the Canadian Jazz scene (www.jillianlebeck.com), entertained us with a live jazz piano and vocal performance. The event was truly a celebration: guests connected with each other, had wonderful conversations and deepened their awareness of PK and how they could get involved. And DJ Marc helped us dance the night away!

Throughout the evening we raffled off prizes, which were donations from local businesses. We would like to thank Haze Public House for hosting the event and our generous sponsors for the raffle: Civil Disobedience Company, Yaletown Laser & Cosmetic Dentistry, Organika Health Products, Westcoast Hot Yoga, Mont Seymour, Pomp & Proper, Ginger 62, La Belle Patate, Mahoney & Sons, Blenz Coffee, Electropical Party and Starbucks.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered and attended the event! With the help of our partners and supporters, Paper Kite was able to raise over $1,329 for orphaned children in Bihar.
